Keep food frozen and fresh for days

Grocery shopping can be a hassle, which is why we’re always looking for ways to preserve our goods for as long as they’ll last. By keeping food in the freezer, this will inactivate any microorganisms so it stays fresh for longer! Here are five golden rules for you to follow when handling the frozen:
  1. Freeze when fresh To seal the freshness, freeze food right away after bought. This will contain the quality and taste, rather then freezing foods that are a few days old after purchase.
  2. Don’t double-freeze The microorganisms are inactive but still alive, and refreezing raw food might be unsafe, as the microbes would have multiplied.
  3. Keep the cool When pre-cooking your food, make sure that you’ve cooled them down beforehand. Never freeze hot foods as it might defrost other frozen goods and raise the temperature of your freezer, which could lead to bacterial growth.
  4. Divide and conquer Portion your food before freezing. Therefore, you don’t have to defrost the whole bunch and waste the rest when cooking.
  5. Choose the best partner Wrap your food tightly or store them in sealed containers to avoid any loss of moisture and prevent the breakdown of flavors or textures.
Veggie Tip! Blanch or partially cook vegetables in boiling water before freezing to prevent fast deterioration. Meat Tip! Don’t rinse meat beforehand, as water will distribute the bacteria - cookingwill destroy any germs on the meat. For fish - clean and gut it properly before freezing.
